Page Numbers Starting From 1 Again
How to start numbering your pages on (for example) folio 3
In more formal texts, such every bit theses and dissertations, it is common that page numbers just offset with the introduction or background. In other words, the pages that include your championship, abstract and table of contents are usually not numbered.
This step-to-footstep guide describes how to get-go numbering your pages on, for instance, folio 3. Note that exactly where you begin numbering your pages depends on your specific text and which layout is required.
The guide is made for the latest version of MS Word, both for PC and Mac.
1. Start by clicking on ¶ to testify the section break.
two. Put the cursorlater on the text on the folio that should be the concluding page without a page number, for example, the table of contents.
iii. Click on theLayout tab. SelectBreaks →Sections Breaks →Side by side Page.
4. Put the cursor on the pagewhere the folio numbering should showtime (that is, section 2 in the document).
5. Click on theInsert tab andPage Number. Select position and fashion for pagination.
6. Click on the bottom of the page to activate theHeader & Footer card. DeactivateLink to Previousand bank check thatDifferent Showtime Page is unchecked.
vii. To ensure your pages begin with 1, get to theInsert tab →Page Number. SelectFormat Page Numbers... →Page numbering →Offset at and add one.
8. Manually delete the page numbers on the first pages of department one past double-clicking on them and and so deleting them.
